Is microblading right for your skin type?
Oily, dry, sensitive or mature skin all heal differently. Here is what to know before you book.
Microblading works by placing pigment in fine strokes just under the skin. How those strokes heal depends a lot on your skin. That is why a good artist looks at your skin before talking about shape.
Normal to dry skin
This is usually the easiest skin to microblade. Strokes tend to heal crisp and hold well. Keep the area moisturized as directed during healing.
Oily skin
Oily skin can cause strokes to soften and blur as they heal, and color may fade faster. It does not always rule you out, but your artist may talk to you about how your results could look and whether a different brow technique would hold better on your skin.
Sensitive skin
Tell your artist about any reactions you have had to makeup, tattoos or skincare. If you have an active skin condition in the brow area, it is usually best to wait until it settles.
Mature skin
Thinner skin needs a lighter touch, and an experienced artist will adjust. Many people find microblading gives their face a fresher, more defined look.
Things that can affect healing
- Some medications, including blood thinners
- Recent retinoid or acid use near the brows
